Anima Mundi Festival- Workshop with Mark Walsh - Pixar Animation Studios
Last week we had in Rio de Janeiro the 15º edition of the Anima Mundi Festival. And during the event, we had a workshop with one of the guests. His name is Mark Walsh. He's a supervising animator of Pixar Animation Studios. He worked in many films, such as "A Bug's Life"(animator), "Toy Story 2"(animator), "The Incredibles"(animator), "Monster Inc."(character developer), "Finding Nemo"(directing animator), and the most recently "Ratatouille"(supervising animator). Oh God, I loved the last one! It's the best!
Although we had only 3 days, I think the whole class learned a lot, 'cause in my opinion Mark showed us different points of view in animation. I mean, based on Pixar way of work. I figure out that acting is the most important thing in animation. The personality of the character define how he moves, think and react in fact of different situations. You use the principles of animation as a support of the acting. Well, it's a very complex subject. Work with "thoughts" isn't a easy thing. We must thanks a lot to Mark for his attention, patience, and efforts to teach us in a short period of time. He's a very nice guy. THANK YOU!!!
Well, now take a look at some pictures. I met up with some old friends again, made new ones, and we had much much fun. All pictures are from André Forni. He's a animator from São Paulo.
